Pane Metaphor

I watched jessie through two windows.

He couldn't see me. It was much brighter outside.

His eyes/mind would only see the light from the window pane and reflection. 

I thought, This is a metaphor. When you're in the light, you don't usually notice the dark. When you're in the dark, You see the light, look to the light
