"I heard there was a super conductor that doesn't need to be measured in thousands of decibels," Joanna says toward Brian. Brian looks across the water at the occasional nautical activity, not really listening. Neither is Joanna, to herself. She wears a white sun dress and a wide blue wicker hat, even though winter is deep. Brian's scarf hangs to the ground, a dirty 2 inches. A weak sour breeze passes, he sort of grimaces reaches for her hand, and she, unaware, jumps up and gestures broadly. 

"I could do more than 10 men! If only they gave me the tools and the time I need... I'm certain I can figure out these damn problems. I'll finish Book 1 today, then get 2 from the Library -- Automatic Intercycle Rhythm Restoration is simple really, or it is for me, now..." She trails off and Brian looks uncomfortably confused. He stands, seeming surely unsure, and says softly, "Realité -"
